saturday date night x 2

i've been craving korean food but we ended up eating japanese izakaya food tonight...twice...in one night.  hah!

we parked the car and planned to go to imanas tei except we walked into the wrong door and ended up at kohnotori.  the two restaurants are next door to each other but the door for imanas tei is tucked near the corner of the building near the stairs so it's easily missed.  and kohnotori doesn't have a sign over the door...just a banner in japanese.  we sat down and i told the hubby that the restaurant didn't look the way i remember it.  and then i looked at the menu and couldn't find any sushi.  and then i looked at the cover and realized that we were at the wrong place!  hah!  we decided to order a few things that looked interesting and decided that we would eat again if we were still hungry.

here's what we had at kohnotori, which is a yakitori restaurant for the most part.  it reminded me a lot of japan :(  besides the stuff shown in the photo below, we also had fried tofu, big island abalone sashimi, and grilled shitaki mushrooms.

after kohnotori, we walked about 10 feet and ended up in front of imanas tei.  there was no waiting list so we sat down to have part two of our dinner :)  

top - ika & uni sashimi, spicy seaweed salad
bottom - seafood dynamite, mentaiko & yama imo sushi

what a yummy night!  wished that we had enough time to grab dessert but the little tiramisu comes first.  my mom was watching her and it was getting close to her bed time so we headed home.

btw - i think i exceeded my seafood intake for the week.  what i would do for a spicy hamachi hand roll :)
