a costco jaunt

my little tiramisu absolutely loves riding in shopping carts!
the tiramisu and i went to costco today...just she and i.  if you don't have children, you won't know how big of an accomplishment this is.  or, maybe i'm just a wuss and all moms go to costco with a toddler en tow.  haha.

i find it challenging because i have to simultaneously shop, feed, watch and entertain her. it's especially difficult when i go to the cold room, where the refrigerated fruits and veggies are.  i would normally leave her outside with my mom but today, i had to bring her in.  surprisingly, she loved it, although she started shivering as i was trying to find a mold-free clamshell container of strawberries and blueberries.  i'm one of those shoppers that insists on digging through boxes and boxes of fruit to find the perfect one but today, i was forced to grab and go.  ugh.

besides 100 rolls of toilet paper and paper towels, we bought pounds and pounds of kiwi, blueberries, strawberries, bananas, white peaches, pluots, and clementines.  my girl loooooves fruit.  i wish this costco stuff was organic (rarely do they have fresh organic fruit) but i have a hard time justifying paying $8 for a few oz of organic blueberries at whole foods when i can buy 2 lbs at costco for the same price or cheaper.  i try to wash all the stuff really well before eating so hopefully that helps :) btw - make sure you read your labels carefully...most of costco's organic veggies are from china.  wtf.

the post-shopping experience also has challenges of its own. do i...
a - put baby in the hot car and then unload the shopping cart?  leave her door open? turn on the engine and cool the car off?
b - leave baby in the cart in the hot sun while unloading the shopping cart and then move her into the hot car?
c - ask stranger to watch her in the shade while i unload the shopping cart?
d - hire a personal shopper?

and yes, i know that grocery carts are nasty, especially where the kids sit.  i am in need of a shopping cart cover and until i get one, i disinfect the crap out of the cart and handle with disinfectant wipes before letting my princess sit in it :D  on second thought, i will probably continue to wipe the cart clean before putting a cover on it because those yukky germs will get on the cover and that's pretty gross as well.
